Who can join?
Anyone can join the PPG if they are a patient registered with the Village Surgery. We aim to a have a group that truly represents the make up of the patients in terms of age, ethnicity, background, etc. Presently, most of the members of the group are 'retired' people, and we would warmly welcome younger working members. If you cannot make the meetings, you can be a virtual member, keeping in touch via email to let us know your ideas.
At the moment, we normally meet once every couple of months for an hour or so in the Village Surgery at 6 pm on a Monday evening.
Patient Locality Group
Members of the PPG can also join the Newcastle Central Patient Locality Group. This group feeds back to the local Clinical Commissioning Board, making sure patients can get involved with local health issues and putting the patient voice at the heart of the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) decision making. It is our chance to influence how the NHS is run locally. You can download more information here. (PDF, 229KB).
The Patient Participation Group (PPG) represents the voice of the patients of The Village Surgery practice and is a group of voluntary patients who are all interested in our practice and the patients registered here.
The Group acts as a representative group that can be called on to influence the local provision of health and social care.
We are always happy to talk to patients who are interested in joining our Group.
Patients can be part of the group by either:
Strive to offer support and help wherever we can
Develop and provide a regular newsletter
Develop and maintain a website to work with practice website
We are not an exclusive group!
Any member of the practice who wants to be part of the PPG is welcome to join us for meetings. These usually take place between 18:00 and 19:00 on a week day, and we meet once every two or three months.
Code of Conduct
So that we can make good progress in meetings and everyone is familiar with the way in which our business is conducted, we are developing a code of conduct.
You can see our draft code of conduct here. (PDF, 87KB)
